(home) First Team 4 - 2 FC Oswestry Town
K.O. 19:45 07th September 2016Remyca returned to LSP after a comprehensive win at Bacup at the weekend with Manager Stafford forced into a few changes due to players being unavailable.
Remyca started well against one of the new teams to the NWCFL, in blustery conditions they pushed forward early on and almost took the lead when the visitors keeper tried to pass out from the back but the ball fell to Quirk who shot narrowly wide. Then a cross from Boyle found the head of Foley whose header went just over the top. As remy gained the upper edge early on they had no goals to show for the dominant start which is an all too familiar feel to the last few games. Remy eventually broke the deadlock after 12 mins when Colin McDonald returning to the starting line up volleyed home a cross from the right hand side to give the home side the lead. Again Remy pressed to get the illusive second goal but again on occassions overplayed. Oswestry were starting to get a foot hold and almost surprised the Remy with an attack down the left but eventually the shot flew over the crossbar. Boyle almost made it 2 on 20 minutes but his shot wnet wide of the upright as Remyca pressed the new boys back. It was on 30 minutes wjhen McDonald struck again, a great team goal with good work in Midfield from Tyson and Gannon leading to Boyle being freed and it was his cross that was finished by McDonald into the bottom corner. Again Oswestry were limited to the odd flurry forward but no real end product. Remyca made it 3-0 on 44 minutes when Boyle cut in from the left hand side after a pass from Gannon and as he looked to have over run the ball he fired a low shot into the corner. HT 3-0
Oswestry made a couple of changes at the break and this seemed to lift them as they come out straight on the front foot and almost scored after 90 seconds but the shot deflected wide for a corner. The corner was cleared and gave Remy a break forward, the ball fell lose and a long punt forward caught out McConchie and the substitute Harris found himself clean through on goal and made no mistake sliding the ball past Carrol in the remy goal. This eemed to galvanise the visitors and they bombed forward at every chance giving Remyca food for thought. A fifty fifty tackle on the half way line proved a problem fro mthe home side as Jakle Connor came of worse and had to be replaced by Jordan Stafford with Connor now a doubt for the FA Vase game on Sunday, with McGrane already sidelined with a hamstring problem it wasnt good news for the Remy management. Oswestry were right back in the game and almost got a second but a fine save from Carroll was the difference. They did get a deserved second when a good remyca move was broken down and Oswestry raced forward but a ball out from the defence from the home side let the visitors back in and they punished Remy with a second goal. It was all the away side at the moment as Remy struggled to contain the attacks coming forward and another smart save from Carroll after a deflected shot kept the remy side narrowly in front. Again the visitors strode forward this time down their right and as the cross come over it was fired at goal only for Flynn to block and then clear. Remy were now struggling to get out of their own half and it seemed only a matter of time before the visitors got their equaliser. A free kick was given away on the corner of the box by Aliu which almost lead to that goal, as the forward stood over the ball he fired in a shot that cannoned of the cross bar and out for a remyca throw in. It was last gasp defending from the home side and a rare break forward in the last minute proved to be the killer blow for the away side as a cross from Quirk to Gannon saw the 17 year olds strike deflect into the back of the net to make it 4-2. No sooner had it hit the net the refereee blew for full time. This was a proper game of two halves but wasteful chances in the first half from the remy was almost their undoing as Oswestry dominated the second period. Onto the next game as we travel to City Of Liverpool in the BuildBase FA Vase on Sunday for a 3.00pm KO with the Hosts unbeaten on their home turf Remyca will be looking to upset the odds.
