Cheadle Town 0 - 3 First Team (away)

K.O. 19:45 10th August 2016
Remy take the points out of Town

Both sides seemed to start well as the rain poured down to make difficult conditions for both sets of players. Both keepers saving comfortably early on as shots went straight at them. James McGrane then had a good chance only to see his shot blocked. Remy got an early goal on 8 mins when a great run from Boyle down the right hand side saw a cross hit first time by Foley, a slight deflection was enough to take it past the home side keeper
It was almost 2-0 on 2-0 mins when a shot from the edge of the box from Boyle was well saved by the Town keeper and the danger cleared. Then a chance for Cheadle as the game opened up but the shot was straight at Carroll in the Remy goal. On 24 mins a bit of Magic from Colin Quirk as he wriggled free in midfield and strode forward, he found a bit of space 25 yards from goal and let fly a left foot shot straight into the top corner. Keeper didn't even move towards it as it flew past.Again Remy were on top and another shot from Boyle fizzed just over the Bar. A great chance to make it 3. Cheadle almost got themselves back in the game as Remy fell asleep at a corner and a snap shot in deflected kindly into Carroll's arms. A rare run forward from Flynn after a one two with McGrane saw the defender get a shot at goal, again the Town keeper saving well as Remy pressed to HT.

Second half started and Cheadle came out firing as they pressed to get themselves back in the game. A couple of good moves failed to have any end product to trouble the remy goal as the defence held tight. Remy had a quick chance from a breakaway only for Foley to hit the side netting with his shot. Then almost another contender for goal,of the season as Tongue hit a overhead kick from 12 yards out which looked all the way a goal but Carroll got the slightest of finger tips to it to deflect onto the bar and the danger was cleared by Mcconchie. Again as Town pressed remy held firm and a corner came in, a free header at the back post was wasted as it went wide. Another chance for Cheadle. Remyca thought they had put the game to bed with 15 mins left but a great double save from the Town keeper kept them at bay when he saved twice from Foley. Youngster Murphy then had a chance as he was put through only to see his shot hit the side netting. He was to get another chance shortly after but again hitting the side netting this time form the opposite side. As the game began to get stretched late on it looked more likely Remy would increase their lead and they did just that in the last minute when a foul on full back Jake Connor, gave Alex Ryan a chance to deliver a great cross into the box as it bent around it looked as though it had gone straight into the bottom corner but it was Boyle who flicked it in past the keeper with the slightest of headers. There was still time for a chance at either end before the final whistle blew. A great win for the Remy on the road for their first away game of the new campaign. On to Eccleshall away now this Saturday.
