Eccleshall 1 - 2 First Team (away)

K.O. 15:00 13th August 2016

With Manager Phil Stafford making a double change from the team which had won the opening two Games Remy travelled to Eccleshall looking to put 3 points on the board against their bogey team, a team they had failed to win against in four previous attempts.

With Lewis Murphy and Sean Lake replacing James McGrane and Lee Carroll respectively . Game started brightly for Remy with a couple of early attempts at goal, both Foley and Boyle going close early on after some good footballing build ups. Eccleshall were reduced to the odd break away but it looked all REMYCA early on. Jake Connor opened the scoring after being put in on goal by Quirk as the keeper came out the full back dinked a lovely finish over the diving keeper. Quirk then tried a speculative effort from the centre circle almost beating the keeper.

REMYCA looked the Stronger side and were pressing forward at every opportunity but could not get the second goal and just on the half hour mark were made to pay as a ball forward was headed in they found themselves through on goal and their forward finished neatly past Lake in the Remy goal. This seemed to help the home side and they went close to leading just before the break but a good save by Lake kept the scores level at HT.

Remy again came out strong looking to get a goal to give them back the lead and a shot from Gannon stung the keepers hands early on. It was a few minutes later REMYCA went back in front a good ball forward again by Quirk put in Boyle who finished Cooley into the bottom corner. As REMYCA pressed hard to try and put daylight between themselves and the hold side disaster struck for youngster Murphy , already on a yellow after a mistaken identity card in the first half he was late into a 50/50 and tripped the Eccleshall full back only to see the referee have no hesitation in showing him a red. With 30 minutes to play REMYCA were up against it if they were to break their hoodoo. REMYCA seemed to adjust better than the home side with 10 men and continued to cause the home side problems with little issues from Eccleshall.

Going into the last 10 minutes the home side pressed and a smart save from Lake kept the Remy in front. The lads saw the last ten out without too much bother and at last had their win against a hard working well organised Eccleshall. A get out of jail for the Remy and Murphy who hopefully will learn from his mistake. All in all 9 points from 9 is all we can ask for after 3 games as they now come thick and fast with no easy games at this level it's a very long run in from here.
